About Us

The Pan Jam & Lime Steel Band at Yale was started in 2002 when Dean Pamela George of the Afro-American Cultural Center secured the funds to purchase a set of steel pans. Jeanine Mohammed arranged for the pans to be built by tuner Kim Wong, and PJ&L’s debut concert took place on April 26th, 2002.  Pan Jam & Lime currently maintains a membership of 10 to 15 players and is open to anyone from the Yale community.  The band performs at the Afro-American Cultural Center, local churches and Yale events. Its diverse repertoire includes soca and calypso, reggae, pop, jazz and classical music.
